It was Christmas 2002 when, for the first time in a long time, I returned to reading JWK's introduction to his book on the Gospel according to Mark. In this introduction he makes the critically important observation that the Gospels were not some kind of revealed truth, but rather the scrapbooks of individuals who sought to express the story of Jesus' ministry, which clearly surpassed their understanding. He also makes the very important point that translating the Gospels would not only require linguistic skill, but also an understanding of Jesus' teachings. For me, this resonated with the Course's teachings where the focus is always on the experience, not the words.

I found myself spontaneously translating the introduction which is a masterpiece in its own right, and the resulting nine page document I shared with a few friends for Christmas. From some questions, I got the idea of explaining Kaiser with quotes from his other works, and finally I also wrote an introduction, and each of these sections was nine pages, and so altogether it was now a twenty-seven page pamphlet, which was at least a rudimentary introduction to Kaiser's work.

After spending some more time with this, it became clear that this should become a book, and the result was published in 2003. This was how I came to resume my work translating Kaiser's writings.

Since Kaiser had a somewhat troublesome habit as an author of assuming that everyone knew as much as he did, his work can be difficult to access, and by providing these cross references to terminlogy and his principal ideas, as well as an introduction, this little book is designed to be the back bone of the eventual publishing program.

 JW Kaiser, who I never met in person, since he died in 1961, when I was just 10 years old, became my most significant spiritual influence from age 14 to 40, along with J. Krishnamurti.

In 1991, I became acquainted with A Course In Miracles, and realized it was my connection home. After 10 years with the Course I realized it deepened my understanding of a lot of things which JWK did not discuss explicitly, which inspired me to continue (some day) the project of translating his work, which I had begun in 1987, and published his first book in 1993, two years after I started studying the Course.
